The Rann Labor Government has made yet another embarrassing stuff-up, this time in relation to its Statutes Amendment (Budget) Bill 2010.
“We now have an embarrassing situation where the Rann Government has had to amend its own Budget legislation and now won’t be able to pass its own Budget legislation for two weeks,” Shadow Minister for Finance Rob Lucas said today.
“Mr Rann and his Ministers have become so disinterested in running South Australia that they’re now forgetting to include important elements of legislation.
“Because the House of Assembly has decided not to sit again until 9 November, the Government can’t fix this embarrassing stuff-up until then.
“The error in the Budget legislation relates to coverage of Parliamentary staff appointed under the Parliament (Joint Services) Act, which covers the issue of whether or not all staff in Parliament House are included in the legislation.
“This is yet another in a long line of embarrassing stuff-ups in this Budget which is adding to the perception of a Government which has lost interest and lost control.”
