The Weatherill Labor Government must ensure that safety is the top priority at the new Royal Adelaide Hospital construction site after the latest safety incident.
Media outlets have reported that a crane has this morning dropped a load of steel at the new Royal Adelaide Hospital site – the latest incident at the site.
“We support the suspension of crane operations at the new Royal Adelaide Hospital until this issue is resolved, because worker safety must come first,” said Shadow Minister for Industrial Relations Rob Lucas.
“In an ideal world, projects are delivered on time, on budget and safely.
“As at November last year, we saw five incidents in four weeks at the new Royal Adelaide Hospital construction site.
“The State Liberals maintain we cannot afford a repeat of the tragic circumstances that marred the construction of the $2.2 billion desalination plant – and we repeat this key message today.
“Worker safety must be the Weatherill Labor Government’s top priority.
“South Australians deserve a Government with better priorities to put our State back on track.”
