Premier Jay Weatherill has once again taken the extraordinary step of gagging his Ministers regarding their support for a high-level nuclear waste dump in South Australia during question time in State Parliament today.
“For the second day running the Premier has refused to allow his Ministers to record their views regarding his doomed nuclear waste dump proposal,” said Shadow Treasurer Rob Lucas.
“Jay Weatherill can’t take the risk of having his Ministers express their opposition to his shambolic plan to force a high-level nuclear waste dump onto South Australia.
“Jay Weatherill knows allowing his Ministers to honestly express their views on his deeply unpopular nuclear dump plan would signal the end of his Premiership.
“If the Premier had the unanimous support of his Cabinet there would have been no need for him to gag them in the Parliament.
“Some Labor MPs in the corridors of Parliament House are openly questioning the Premier’s judgment and actions on this issue.
“Jay Weatherill has led the Labor Government into a dead end but he’s refusing to put his policy into reverse.”
