Premier Weatherill’s embarrassing flip-flop on his support for businesses today confirms the Weatherill Labor Government is willing to say anything and do anything to get re-elected for another four years.
An email sent from Mr Weatherill to Labor mates today states:
“Only Labor will work with business to transform and modernise our economy.”
Having spent the election campaign bagging business, Mr Weatherill now wants to have South Australians believe that he backs business.
Premier Weatherill has previously described Mr Marshall’s commitment to supporting businesses by cutting payroll tax as “throwing money at business” (891ABC, 28/10/13).
“This is also Mr Weatherill’s second embarrassing flip-flop in less than a week,” said Liberal spokesman Rob Lucas.
On Tuesday, Mr Weatherill was exposed for flip-flopping on the South Australian economy, stating on 5AA radio:
“So let’s get away from this nonsense about South Australia being a high cost jurisdiction. We are a relatively affordable jurisdiction.” (5AA, 04/03/14)
Mr Weatherill has previously said:
“We are a high-cost jurisdiction.” (Hansard, 20/06/12)
“After 12 years of Mr Weatherill and Labor, our economy is suffocating to death with the highest taxes in the nation, burdensome regulations and a government not willing to back business to grow our economy,” said Mr Lucas.
“However, in seven days’ time, South Australians will have a clear choice at polling booths between a Marshall Liberal Government with a positive action plan to put South Australia back on track and a tired, dysfunctional Weatherill Labor Government out of touch with South Australians.
“A Marshall Liberal Government will deliver tax cuts and no new taxes and levies for South Australians.
“On the other hand, a Weatherill Labor Government will deliver high taxes, high debt, high deficit and new taxes.
“Only a Marshall Liberal Government will back business to grow our economy and put our State back on track.”
