Excessive government advertising and expenditure on the State Government’s energy plan
will today be under the spotlight, as senior officers from the Department of Premier and
Cabinet appear before the Parliament’s Budget and Finance Committee.
Premier Weatherill’s $5 million energy policy unit, headed by former Labor staffer Sam
Crafter, and the details of the Weatherill Labor Government’s temporary diesel generators
will be amongst the other topics canvassed by the Committee.
“The Premier’s Department has taken the lead on the tender process for the Government’s
temporary diesel generation but there have been scant details on the location of the diesel
generators, with the Premier and Treasurer reluctant to talk about them,” said Shadow
Treasurer Rob Lucas.
“We’ll be asking senior DPC officials to provide answers to the questions which their political masters have avoided.”
