South Australia’s ramping crisis escalated yesterday as the Ambulance Employees’ Association publicly pleaded with the Weatherill Labor Government to fix the problem.
In the latest disturbing ramping incident at Flinders Medical Centre, last week a woman who had been vomiting for 18 hours was forced to wait outside the emergency department for about an hour.
The woman is now reported to be in a critical condition at the Royal Adelaide hospital.
Shadow Health Minister Rob Lucas said the incident confirmed yet again that the South Australian health system is in crisis.
“Minister Snelling and the Health Department continue to claim that there is no problem with ramping at FMC, but clearly they are out of touch on this critical issue,” said Mr Lucas.
“Yesterday, the Ambulance Employees’ Association said ‘there is ramping of some description happening every single day at Flinders and to deny it is just silly.’
“The Ambulance Union has clearly had enough with the Weatherill Labor Government’s approach to this very serious issue.
“Mr Weatherill and Mr Snelling continue to bury their heads in the sand on ramping.
”South Australians deserve a better Government with the right priorities to get South Australia back on track.”
