Just one day after Premier Weatherill promised no more ‘political bulldust,’ Minister Snelling has just dumped a truckload of it on long suffering rural South Australians.
Earlier this week, Minister Snelling finally relented after a long campaign by rural South Australians and the State Liberals and announced a review of the Patient Assistance Transport Scheme (PATS).
However, Mr Snelling has confirmed the review will not include any consideration of whether the current level of funding is sufficient to meet the needs of patients required to travel to access specialist services.
Mr Snelling has revealed only the details of the scheme can be reviewed, and not the critical issue of the adequacy of the overall funding allocations.
“It is now clear the promised review of PATS is a farce and a load of ‘political bulldust,’” said Mr Lucas.
“It hasn’t taken long for the Weatherill Labor Government to confirm Mr Weatherill’s claim he would get rid of ‘political bulldust’ was nothing more than political spin.
“Any review of the PATS should be genuine and examine not only details of the operation of the scheme, but also the required overall funding level for a fair scheme.”
