$400,000 to $7.6 million, with key highlights including
– $182,580 spent on catering;
– $185,477 spent on media monitoring;
– $1.04 million spent on photography, AV and production;
– $152,373 spent on accommodation in South Australia;
– $256,771 spent on international and domestic travel; and
– $1.08 million spent on external contractors.
“Taxpayers should be concerned about how their money was spent chasing the Weatherill Government’s nuclear thought bubble,” said Shadow Treasurer Rob Lucas.
“It is incredible that the agency managed to rack up an $180,000 catering bill in one
year. That could have bought more than 45,000 cups of take away coffee or 123
coffees per day.
“South Australian taxpayers will be outraged that the Weatherill Government has spent
$180,000 on catering at a time with they are grappling with a jobs crisis and
the most expensive electricity prices in the world.
“It beggars belief that the agency managed to spend over $150,000 on accommodation in South Australia in a single year, those sorts of numbers rival Minister Bignell’s
outrageous travel expenses.
“At $200 a night that amounts to 761 nights spent in a hotel rooms in South Australia in
the space of a 365 day calendar year.
“There is also a big question mark over the $1 million spent on photography, AV and
production.
“The Weatherill Government has recently come under fire for wasting millions of taxpayers’ dollars on a number of government communications campaigns which are nothing more than a blatant attempt by Premier Weatherill to get himself re-elected.
“Given the Weatherill Government’s track record of treating taxpayers’ money with
contempt, we’ll be pursuing a further breakdown of these costs.”
