Shadow Treasurer Rob Lucas said today that a Marshall Liberal Government would
establish a Parliamentary Select Committee to investigate valuation policies of the Valuer-General and their impact on some retirement village residents.
This decision has been taken in response to lobbying from the SA Retirement Villages
Residents Association (SARVRA) which has called on both the Labor Party and the Liberal
Party to establish a Parliamentary Select Committee on this issue.
SARVRA has expressed concern at what they describe as discriminatory valuation policies
of the Valuer-General which might lead in 2025 to SA Water fee increases of up to 700 per
cent.
In response to SARVRA concerns the Liberal Party has sought answers from the Valuer-General and the Weatherill Government about current policies but they have refused to
answer any questions on this issue.
Given the current policy presents the possibility of 700 per cent fee increases until 2025
there is time for an incoming government to consider the issues being raised by SARVRA.
