Treasurer Kevin Foley has today been accused of gross hypocrisy when it was revealed he had paid almost $50,000 to a company he had unfairly criticised as doing “shoddy work” for the Liberal Party before the election.
“Under Treasurer Jim Wright has provided evidence to the Legislative Council Budget and Finance Committee that Mr Foley and Treasury actually paid WT Partnership Pty Ltd $46,380 for advice on “assessment of cost estimates for Public Private Partnerships”,” Shadow Minister for Finance Rob Lucas said today.
“However, prior to the recent State election, Mr Foley attacked the Liberal Party’s use of WT Partnership in costing major infrastructure projects.”
“Treasurer Kevin Foley has accused the Liberal Party of a shoddy approach to costing their major infrastructure projects.
“But in response, international consultancy firm WT Partnership is seeking legal advice after Mr Foley blasted its “complete lack of experience in health projects”.
“The Liberal Party relied on WT Partnership estimates to cost some of their major projects – costings that Mr Foley described as “shoddy”.”

“Mr Wright confirmed WT Partnership would have been selected to do this critical work for the Rann Government because they were judged to be the best company to look at assessing cost estimates for PPPs,” Mr Lucas said.
“Mr Foley’s hypocrisy is self-evident through attacking the company and the Liberal Party’s use of the company when at the same time he had been using the company’s expertise to provide him with advice.”
