Labor’s reckless pre-election spending frenzy shows no sign of slowing despite the massive impending hit to household and business budgets, with Mr Malinauskas splashing out a further $181 million on unfunded promises this morning alone.
Today’s announcement comes after a three-day spending spree in which Labor racked up $220 million for a new Mount Barker Hospital, approximately $12 million for new fire trucks and $24million for the forest industry – bringing Labor’s total unfunded promises to well over $3 billion.
“Another day, another $181 million in unfunded promises from Mr Malinauskas – this is now becoming beyond a joke,” Treasurer Rob Lucas said.
“In fact, this is the type of spending frenzy that would even make Kim Kardashian blush.”
“Mr Malinauskas is racking up a pre-election spending bill so large and so ludicrous – with absolutely no word on how he’s going to pay for it – it should terrify every family and business owner who will ultimately have to suffer the consequences.
“Families and businesses aren’t stupid – they know if you rack up billions and billions in unfunded pre-election promises then, ultimately, someone’s going to have to pay and it will be them through higher taxes, charges and levies.
“Whether it’s a return to the massive hikes to ESL, water and power bills South Australians endured under the former Labor government, or whether they’ll introduce new taxes – households and businesses are in for a world of hip-pocket pain under Labor.”
