Senior Right MP says Weatherill has created a “f***ing disaster”
Thursday, 6 February 2014
The dysfunctional Weatherill Labor Government’s crisis of division, disunity and dysfunction has descended into open factional warfare with yet another leak.
On Monday – four days into Mr Weatherill’s crisis – Minister Koutsantonis told media:
“I am not involved in factional politics anymore and everyone in the Labor Party knows that.” (Channel 9, 03/02/14)
Despite this ridiculous claim from Mr Koutsantonis, The Australian has today reported that Mr Koutsantonis has ordered Right-aligned Labor MPs to maintain discipline until the March State Election in 37 days’ time.
However, one senior Right-aligned MP has broken ranks, ignored factional powerbroker Mr Koutsantonis’ instructions and leaked to the media.
In fact, this senior Right-aligned MP has said that Mr Weatherill’s actions over the past seven days has:
“…created a f***ing disaster…”
“Jay has had a tantrum…it’s a bit f***ing rich…He has exposed a huge rift in the party...This is going to do a lot of damage to the party for a very long time.”
Another senior Right-aligned figure from the Labor Party told The Australian:
“We (the Right) will lock in between now and the election…so we’ll give the appearance of just moving on – until March 15. Then he will pay.”
These statements make it clear that whatever happens at the election, Mr Weatherill will not survive as leader because the Right faction will remove Mr Weatherill and impose their choice as leader.
“Mr Weatherill and his deeply divided Labor Government continue to lurch from crisis to crisis,” said Mr Lucas.
“Earlier this week Minister Snelling publicly disagreed with Tom Koutsantonis’ claim that he was no longer involved in factional politics.
“Labor sources, including MPs, Ministers and staffers, continue to leak against and undermine the now seriously besieged Mr Weatherill.
“But as our State faces a catastrophic jobs crisis, Mr Weatherill and Labor are more concerned about having a factional fight for their own jobs.”
