Congratulations Rosemary McKenzie-Ferguson

Friday, 4 November 2011

Shadow Industrial Relations Minister Rob Lucas today congratulated injured worker advocate Rosemary McKenzie-Ferguson on winning the Community Leader award in the 2011 South Australian of the Year Awards.

Ms McKenzie-Ferguson was presented with the award at a Civic Reception at the Adelaide Town Hall last night by the Lord Mayor of Adelaide, the Hon Stephen Yarwood.

“Rosemary McKenzie-Ferguson is a highly-deserved winner of this important award,” Mr Lucas said.

“Rosemary has been an outstanding advocate for injured workers and I am very pleased to see her fantastic efforts officially recognised.

“Rosemary founded the Work Injured Resource Connection to help injured workers 15 years ago and she has worked tirelessly and selflessly to enrich the lives of others ever since, providing both invaluable practical and emotional support.

“With her extensive knowledge of the South Australian WorkCover system, Rosemary provides injured workers with invaluable information, knowledge and support to assist in their recoveries.

“Rosemary also puts together food parcels for injured workers struggling to make ends meet, and attends trials, case conferences and medical appointments on behalf of injured workers.

“She regularly conducts public forums to draw attention to the plight of injured workers, and helped install a memorial pillar and a memorial forest in Bonython Park to honour workers who tragically died on the job.

“Rosemary has made an exceptional contribution to the lives of many South Australians and I am delighted to see her honoured with this award.”
