Koutsantonis caught out
Wednesday, 5 March 2014
Transport Minister, Tom Koutsantonis, has been caught out lying in a media release distributed last week titled “Liberal leader set to dodge another debate”.
The release stated:
“Liberal leader Steven Marshall is set to dodge another showdown with Premier Jay Weatherill after agreeing to a $1000 a head fundraiser instead of taking part in a scheduled Sky News/Adelaide Now debate on Tuesday, 4 March.”
This was a blatant lie and was proven to be a blatant lie last night.
“Minister Koutsantonis must now explain why he lied and attempted to deceive South Australians,” said Liberal spokesman Rob Lucas.
“He should also issue a public apology to Steven Marshall.”
Newsrooms should beware of a flurry of Labor lies that will flood their inboxes over the remaining 10 days of the State Election campaign.
Over the next 10 days, it is clear that Premier Weatherill and his Labor Ministers will continue to engage in dodgy campaign tactics and dirty tricks.
“This latest Labor lie is confirmation that Labor cannot be trusted,” said Mr Lucas.
“Sadly, South Australians have come to expect lies, dodgy campaign tactics and dirty tricks from Mr Weatherill and Labor.”
At the last State Election, Labor handed out dodgy how-to-vote cards on polling day, and in this campaign, we have already seen a number of dodgy campaign tactics from Labor, including:
• Labor Member for Colton, Paul Caica, putting up election posters on the Friday morning before election writs were issued;
• Labor candidate for Reynell, Katrine Hildyard, forced to apologise over dodgy “Sorry I missed you” doorknocking cards, where members of her campaign had forged her signature;
• Labor Party member and Assistant Secretary of the Housing Trust Tenants’ Association, Julie Macdonald, distributing a letter to housing trust tenants claiming the Liberals will force tenants from their homes if elected; and,
• Labor candidate for Elder, Annabel Digance, distributing a letter to constituents claiming the Liberals would cut funding to sick babies.
“Because Mr Weatherill and Labor can’t stand on their record of government over the past 12 long years, they’ve resorted to lies in this election campaign in a desperate attempt to govern for another four years,” said Mr Lucas.
“It’s pathetic, desperate and dodgy and South Australians deserve better.
“Newsrooms beware – Labor lies will continue over the next 10 days!”
