Marshall Government welcomes 2018-19 Federal Budget

Wednesday, 9 May 2018

The Marshall Liberal Government has welcomed the 2018-19 Federal Budget and will continue to work with the Turnbull Coalition Government to deliver for South Australians.
“The Marshall Government has been working with Turnbull Government to secure funding for important infrastructure projects and we look forward to further discussing the opportunities contained in the Federal Budget,” said Treasurer Rob Lucas.
“South Australia was in a precarious position heading into the Federal Budget as a result of the former Labor Government’s petulant political games.
“It is pleasing to see that our productive working relationship with the Federal Government has resulted in South Australia receiving $1.8 billion of new infrastructure funding which is our population share.
“The Marshall Government will now work with the Federal Government to advance our priority infrastructure projects to improve the lives of south Australians and create jobs.”
The new infrastructure funding allocated to South Australia in the 2018-19 Federal Budget builds on the $2.1 billion already allocated for defence infrastructure projects in South Australia.
The defence infrastructure projects planned for South Australia will support the $90 billion naval shipbuilding plan which will create thousands of high paid jobs.
The 2018-19 Federal Budget also provides significant income tax relief for South Australians who have been struggling with rising household bills.
“The Turnbull Coalition Government has focused on providing relief to families which is exactly what the Marshall Liberal Government will be doing in South Australia,” said Treasurer Lucas.
“I look forward to providing further relief to South Australians when we cut ESL bills by $90 million per year and cap council rates.”
